Book Description:
The 23rd biennial ASCE salary survey of the civil engineering profession conducted by the ASCE Committee on Employment Conditions during the first quarter of 1995 is presented. It consists of an in-depth analysis of salary and benefits data reported by ASCE professional grade. National averages are reported. Additional salary statistics are presented for six regions of the United States, and for thirty-six metropolitan areas and subregions. These include means, medians, standard deviations, and ranges. National statistics are also segmented into six employer categories: consulting firms, construction firms, design/construction firms, railroads, utilities, and industry, state departments and agencies, and municipal, county, and regional departments and agencies. Some of the analyses of salaries offered in the survey cover such topics as: national and regional trends, comparisons among regions, comparisons between regions and the areas within them, ranges within an area and grade, comparisons among employer categories, trends within categories, and historical trends for each employer category. Benefit costs are analyzed as follows: national costs and trends over the past decade, costs and trends by employer category, benefits by size of firm, and recent trends in fifteen benefit categories. This survey provides a comprehensive study of compensation in the civil engineering profession.
