The Twilight Zone...and Beyond! After the publication of his Prometheus-Award-winning science fiction novel, The Rainbow Cadenza in 1983, J. Neil Schulman published no new books until 1994. What became of this promising author’s career in the missing decade? What happened was the sale of a film treatment to a major movie production company in late 1983 and the broadcast of Schulman’s original script, ’Profile in Silver,’ on CBS’s revived Twilight Zone series at 8:00 PM EST, March 7, 1986. For most of the 80’s and early 90’s, J. Neil Schulm

Especially suited to the growing conditions and the urban settings of the Pacific Northwest, cottage gardens are comfortable and romantic and look as though they were thrown together with ease. However, these beautiful gardens need considerable planning to appear natural and informal. This accessible guide explores the origin and history of cottage gardens, and outlines the essentials of creating a cozy garden sanctuary, including design and layout, functional structures, furniture, decor and materials, plant selection, and maintenance.

The marriage of Gerhard and Suzannah Falktopf is already in trouble when tragedy strikes on the morning of September 11, 2001. As a quintessential downtown art couple -- he a famous choreographer, she his muse and principal dancer and now the mother of their four-year-old son -- the strains in their marriage have been kept at bay by the glamorous velocity of their lives. Though they escape harm when the planes crash into the towers, husband and wife are suddenly cast into an unpredictable psychological space that allows their buried selves, and their sharp differences, to rise to the sur

From Cotton Belt to Sunbelt investigates the effects of federal policy on the American South from 1938 until 1980 and charts the close relationship between federal efforts to reform the South and the evolution of activist government in the modern United States. Decrying the South’s economic backwardness and political conservatism, the Roosevelt Administration launched a series of programs to reorder the Southern economy in the 1930s. After 1950, however, the social welfare state had been replaced by the national security state as the South’s principal benefactor. Bruce J. Schulman contrast

This book is an introduction to the arrow of time in thermodynamics and cosmology, and develops a new quantum measurement theory in which the foregoing concepts play an essential role. The first chapter is an overview and "route map" and is followed by an exposition of irreversibility, the expansion of the universe and other arrows of time. The author examines the thesis that the thermodynamic arrow follows the cosmological one, and in doing so extends traditional statistical mechanics. The second part of the book presents a new theory of quantum measurement and possible experimental tests.
