The Septuagint (commonly abbreviated as LXX) - the Greek translation of the Old Testament - was the most influential Bible translation for Greek-speaking Christians of the first century and was the basis for many of the Old Testament citations found in the New Testament. Its vocabulary and thought forms had a significant impact on the development of New Testament theology.
